A water confidence program designed for babies, focusing on creating positive early experiences in water to help them develop a sense of orientation and reduce fear.
Target audience:
Parents/Carers of babies aged 4-8 months looking to build their children's water confidence and safety.
Program leader:
Allison Dorsett, co-owner of Eden Swimming Pool. Trained to teach early water confidence for babies aged 4-8 months trained by Udemy. Trained SA Teacher Level 1 trained by The Institute of Swimming.
Introductions to parents/carers
Water temperature is maintained at 30.5- 31 degrees. Babies are required to wear secure fitting swim nappies. For warmth, comfort and hygiene a wet suit or happy nappy is recommended.
Parents/carers should:

Advice: Do not exit the pool if baby cries. Calm them down and use distractions.
Development milestones 4-8 months old.

4-8 months is the perfect age to introduce babies to water.

Babies have no real awareness of danger, which makes teaching a delightful experience as they unwittingly participate in anything presented to them.

Each session lasts 30 minutes due to young babies getting tired and cold easily.
